“In 1977 the television adaptation of Roots debuted across American television screens, inviting Americans to remember the painful history of the slave trade. By examining the history of his own family, author Alex Haley was able to show the resiliency of African American families against the greatest of odds. Actor, Writer and Film Maker Chris Haley, (nephew of the famous writer) has carried on the tradition of storytelling that made his family one of the most famous in American history. Mr. Haley will reflect upon why 2020 was a reminder and a wake-up call for African American families and the nation.
