Celebrate Black History with the D.C. Black History Celebration Committee (DCBHCC) by joining our Virtual Black History Kick-Off on Tuesday, February 1 at 6:30 PM ET/PTThe keynote speaker will be Dr. Ben Chavis who will focus on the Power of The Black Press Then and Now. Other participants include Denise Rolark Barnes, Publisher, The Washington Informer, DC Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, Deputy Ambassador Michael Curtis Delegation of the European Union to the United States, Dr. Frank Smith, director and founder, the African American Civil War Museum, DC City Council Chairman Phil Mendelson and Marvin Bowser, photographer and actor. Luci Murphy, social activist and performer, and Phil Portlock, photographer and voting rights advocate, will be honored for their work in the community.
